Minimal surfaces / genus one

Costa Surface

Geometry & mathematics

The Costa surface is an embedded minimal surface with one handle and three ends: two catenoidal ends and one planar end.

This viewer samples Gray’s parametrization on the square torus using Weierstrass ζ and ℘ functions. Infinite ends are truncated; boundary gaps reflect mesh sampling, not boundaries of the complete surface.

The square lattice has periods 1 and i; e₁ = ℘(½) ≈ 6.875185818. Fourier series evaluate the elliptic functions. No arbitrary shape deformation is applied.
